The idea for SueFest was born in late 2013 after the sudden passing of an incredible community member known for her gentle kindness, musical ability and commitment to the deaf blind comunity. Susan Elaine Wallbank-Maher was a local tacher who spent a lot of her time fundraising for charitable causes. That is why we are excited to boast that in the festival's first year we raised nearly $10.000 for continued research for The Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada!
SueFest is a celebration to commemorate all of the lives of loved ones lost.
In thier honour SueFest will double as an annual fundraiser for the newly unified Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada that has just made the huge commitment to contribute $300,000,000 to Heart & Stroke research over the next ten years. This effort is just one ripple of Susan's life energy and we believe that she can continue to make a positive impact on this world for many years to come!
